1. Classroom Debates
What makes a relationship abusive?
· Is it just physical abuse – or can there be emotional abuse as well?
· Give some examples of emotional abuse (e.g., name-calling, controlling behavior, guilt-tripping, etc.)
· Can girls as well as boys be abusive?
· What should you do if someone you care about abuses you, either emotionally or physically?
· When is it time to leave the relationship?
· Why do some people stay in abusive relationships?
· What can be the consequences?
Look through the newspaper for a week or a month and find articles about:
· Domestic Violence
· Sexual Abuse
· Child Abuse
· Sexual Assault/Rape
· Kidnapping
· Elder Abuse – this is abuse of elderly people either by family, strangers or negligent care in a nursing home
Develop a graph and do a report on your findings
